Tweet Tweet & Happy Women's Day

If you follow me on Twitter, you'd see that I have over 17 000 tweets, and a large portion of those are nonsensical. But last night, in the late hours, I got to thinking, about Women's Day (which is today, the 9th of August in South Africa), about dreams, about life... And I put my thoughts online. Have a look:

You'd think with it being women's month, men will try and learn about the difficulties that come with womanhood and show some compassion. Women are human beings with feelings. We aren't perfect all the time, we make mistakes, we gain weight, we get sad. We are real. We want to be loved for who we are, not what we look like. We are not pieces of meat. We are humans. Equals in every field. Every man must look like a Calvin Klein model if they expect every woman to look like a Victoria's Secret model. I'm very tired of these double standards.
Women's Day isn't just another public holiday. Its a day reflecting women's strength and tenacity to make a change for a brighter future. I believe in the future that they envisioned, all humans, regardless of gender and race, were treated as equals and respected, most importantly.
Women are goddesses. Our bodies are temples, for we give and nurture life. Without woman, there would be no man. Women deserve respect. All of them. I have this theory that if hoes were respected by their peers and especially men, they'd respect themselves and in turn, they wouldn't be hoes.

Reflection:
How does it feel to know that all of your thoughts have been thought by someone else? All originality is dead. All we have left are dreams. But dreaming of things that genuinely won't come true only hurts the dreamer, that's why dreams are meant for sleep. If we dreamt while we were awake, we'd spend our whole lives thinking of things that aren't real. But is dreaming such a bad thing? I think it only becomes a problem when we forget that there is a reality. A reality in which we must be able to discern good from evil, right from wrong, happy from sad. A reality where both exist. At some stage in your life, some dreams you have to let die. Reality exists and at one point or another, you have to return to it.
Its funny to think about life. You're on your phone or computer whilst others are giving birth, falling in love, getting married and living. It also makes you think about how small you are in this cornucopia that is real life. But also how your life can impact thousands. I believe in the ripple effect and paying it forward. This generation is so intertwined that our actions literally can't not affect someone else.
Life is strange.

Happy Women's Day to all the pillars of strength in the world - mothers, wives, sisters, aunties, grandmothers, daughters, cousins, politicians, religious leaders, lovers, fighters, feminists, poets, actors, singers, motivational speakers, and every influential woman in between. You are loved, you are cherished, you are appreciated, you are needed.
